Biography
Maria comes from Paleometocho, a village in Nicosia. She is a graduate of the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Manufacturing of the University of Cyprus and she has a Masters in Data Analysis of the UCLAN Cyprus University. From a very young age, only 5 years old, she started her voluntary activity through the Cyprus Scouts Association, where she remains active until today as the Leader of the Scout Group in the 288th Paliometocho Scout Group. Since 2012 she is an active member of the Young Cyprus Greens (YCG), while between the years 2014 – 2018 she was elected as the Secretary General. In the period 2013-1025 she was elected as Vice-President B’ of the Cyprus Youth Council, where during her term she was actively promoting Structured Dialogue, both at national and European level, and the promotion of active citizenship among young people. During 2015-2017 was appointed in the Cyprus delegation for the Commonwealth Youth Forum.
During 2016-2017 she was elected as a board member of the Federation of Young European Greens (FYEG1), while in the period 2017-2020 she held the position Director of Programme Implementation in the Africa and Europe Committee of the Commonwealth Youth Council (CYC). Since 2018 Maria was elected and chaired the Advisory Body of the Cyprus Youth Council and in 2019-2020, she was in the respective Advisory Body of FYEG.
Since October 2019 she is an Ambassador of One Young World together with thousands of young leaders from all over the world. With an active presence in the political scene of Cyprus and abroad, for youth, environment and human rights, Maria continues to act and react!
